What it funds
Official synopsis as published by the agency, formatted for readability.
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is seeking applications for funding.
OJP is committed to advancing work that promotes civil rights and equity, increases access to justice, supports crime victims and individuals impacted by the justice system, strengthens community safety and protects the public from crime and evolving threats, and builds trust between law enforcement and the community.
With this solicitation, NIJ seeks applications for rigorous research and evaluation projects to inform policy and practice to prevent and respond to hate crimes. Though applications may cover a range of topics, NIJ is particularly interested in funding: (1) evaluations of federal, state, or locally funded efforts to combat hate crimes; (2) research that informs strategies to prevent hate crimes; (3) research and evaluations of strategies to improve the reporting, identification, and response to hate crimes; and (4) research and evaluations of strategies to improve outcomes for survivors and their communities.
This program furthers DOJ’s mission to uphold the rule of law, to keep our country safe, and to protect civil rights.
