What it funds

Official synopsis as published by the agency, formatted for readability.

This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) uses a R61/R33 Phased Innovation Award to support milestone-driven research that advances innovative HIV prevention interventions from development and feasibility testing to larger-scale efficacy, effectiveness, implementation, and dissemination studies. The R61 phase will support the development, refinement, adaptation, and pilot testing of novel or enhanced HIV prevention and treatment strategies, including studies designed to address key scientific, operational, or implementation questions necessary to establish feasibility and readiness for larger-scale evaluation. Projects may generate evidence needed to optimize intervention design, delivery, and implementation in diverse populations and settings. The R33 phase will support expanded testing of interventions and implementation strategies that have successfully met R61 milestones. Studies may evaluate effectiveness, implementation, scalability, sustainability, clinical management, or delivery of HIV prevention interventions that include integrated approaches addressing alcohol use and related comorbidities.
