Program objective
The goal of the State Select disbursement is to return a portion of federal mineral leasing revenue to states so they can plan for mineral development impacts, maintain and build public facilities, provide essential public services, and prioritize support for communities most affected by mineral extraction on federal lands. These goals ensure that states have resources to manage infrastructure, public service needs, and community impacts resulting from federal mineral leasing. Accordingly, the U.S. Federal government shares 90 percent of oil and gas royalties attributable to the selected acreage with the State. The funds are paid monthly and is subject to late disbursement interest.
