How it makes and monitors grants (Schedule I, Part IV)

Csgf provides funding and other support to nonprofit public charter schools and other charitable organizations to support high-quality charter school growth to help serve more children with high-quality k-12 education. as part of diligence, csgf conducts on-site visits to each of the schools it provides funding. these visits focus on observing interactions with teachers, school leadership, and students. additionally, csgf reviews financial and narrative information submitted by grantees and interviews key personnel. all potential recipients are subject to pre-grant diligence and inquiry procedures and, once an award is approved, recipients are subject to written agreements that require funds be (i.) used for specific project purposes with imposed reporting obligations or for general operations without reporting obligations for smaller grants to fund general operations or for emergency response (i.e., hurricane, tornado, etc.) and (ii.) returned if not spent appropriately. all funding must be used for exclusively charitable purposes. finally, our charter school recipients participate in an annual data collection process that includes the completion and submission of a financial template as well as a submission of an annual budget, audited financial statements, and 990s for review by key csgf staff.
