How it makes and monitors grants (Schedule I, Part IV)
For all disbursements outlined in part ii, grantee organizations are required to submit a use of funds report which documents that the funds have been expended as outlined in the original grant application form. should excess funds remain, the grantee returns those funds to the foundation. for all disbursements outlined in part iii, an application is required with appropriate documentation of financial need for all grants of assistance, whether direct financial assistance to members in need (emma harper turner or eht awards) or undergraduate scholarships, graduate fellowships or alumnae continuing education awards. committees review every application for assistance to determine eligibility. financial need must be clearly demonstrated. the board of trustees vote on committee recommendations for the eht awards. alumnae members receive the eht assistance directly; collegiate members have their eht assistance sent directly to their college or university. for all scholarships, the foundation submits payments directly to the appropriate college or university. should the student withdraw, those funds are refunded to the foundation. the university is responsible to apply the scholarship funds to the appropriate student account; the foundation communicates directly with each student so they know what amount of funds to expect to be applied to their account. for miscellaneous grant amounts, the same process outlined for part ii applies.
