How it makes and monitors grants (Schedule I, Part IV)

For the competitive grant processes, recipients are required to submit a signed grant agreement letter which states that they agree to use the funds as intended and will submit a report accordingly. Typically, a year after approval, these recipients answer a 1- or 2-page questionnaire regarding the use of the grant, and effectiveness of the program or the project funded, and a final project budget. These reports are reviewed by staff to assess compliance with the original terms of the grant. Staff follows-up as needed. For other types of grant distributions, grant recipients receive a letter which stipulate how the grant is to be used. If deemed appropriate, based on the size or specific purpose of the grant, recipients may be required to report on the use of the funds. All recipients are informed that donor-advised grants cannot result in any personal benefit to the donors associated with the granting fund. Due diligence procedures are followed, and appropriate information is collected for the Foundation files prior to grant distribution.
